Roresishms

A Virtual World of Live Pictures.

We simply wanted to “get away” from the negative environment of COVID19 that was hanging over us with the hostility of the riots, the lies of the media; find beauty and be grateful to live.

We got into the Big Blue Ram Truck not knowing where we were going. Driving down the winding mountain road without a plan or destination, we feel as if we are driving towards heaven. This was a Freedom Day. A day to heal our mind.

Along the way we pass beautiful and picturesque mountains of purple, blue and hundreds of shades of green; God’s beautiful work of art.

We saw gardens of sunflowers with majestic dark green stems blooming merrily as yellow, gold and red rose towards the sun savoring every warm and glorious ray.

The higher we drove into the mountains, the less air conditioning we needed in the truck. Temperatures dropped ten degrees in a matter of minutes.

We passed The Old General Store with its rustic wood framing and old tin roof. What a beautiful site (I wish I had taken a photo). Along the way, a small cheese factory located on the mountain at the end of a winding dirt road. Where did these highlanders find this variety of delicious cheese?

Further up the road, an antique store displayed old farmer’s plows and other farm equipment on the porch where the owner had left them to attract potential customers.

With each sinuous curve came another delicious surprise of beauty. We enjoyed mountainous grazing land filled with hundreds of head of cattle filling their bellies with home-grown mountain grass.

Several miles away we saw an unusually large herd of big, fat sheep, with a couple of goats mixing in and obviously bothering them. Across the road, in the valley, we saw more goats content on the wooden benches their owner had built for them. Goats want to climb. The farmer obeyed.

A remarkably short but heavy rain dropped the temperature in the truck another ten degrees. What a beautiful, exciting and peaceful trip!

It was making us hungry. There is no place to stop and eat. We finally reached a small town. The grocery store located deep in a wooded area looked appealing. We put on our masks and walked inside only to find a small deli. The sandwiches were sold out. We bought a small box of egg salad and half a loaf of artisan bread, went back to the truck and found a large shade tree. There we had our delicious lunch.

Taking a wrong turn on the way home was a blessing. The Smoky Mountain landscape shone in magnificent splendor as it absorbed the healing of the brilliant rays of the sun.

Driving down the mountain we turned up the air conditioning in the truck, enjoyed music on the radio and our minds were at peace.

Sometimes we just need to get away from it all and allow ourselves to heal and enjoy God’s Beautiful Artwork.
