If you own a four wheel drive vehicle and like to ‘off-road’, we recommend raising the ride height of your car. You can do this by modifying the suspension, i.e. by installing a suspension lift. Alternatively, you can lift the entire body of your car.

A suspension lift can give your vehicle better ground clearance, as well as make your lowering, climbing, and winding angles steeper. After a suspension lift, your car will be able to sport bigger off-road tires. The type of drivetrain your car has will help decide the type of lift kit you should purchase.

Conventional components of a lift kit include extended shocks, lift blocks, replacement suspension and control arms, as well as custom four-link systems.

A suspension lift affects driveshaft length, as well as reconfiguring a truck’s brake lines and steering geometry.

Often a lift kit results in more lift at the front than at the rear of a vehicle. This is because many SUVs and trucks sit at an angle when they roll off assembly lines at factories. So a bigger riser in the front helps them sit level. While 4-inch risers are the most popular, riser kit manufacturers offer taller risers, ranging from 6 to 8 inches and even higher.

Accommodating larger tires on your truck facilitates better handling on off-road terrain. However, larger tires can also cause inaccurate odometer and speedometer readings.

You should be aware that each state in the US has different laws regarding what is allowed, regarding bumper and light placement, and ride height. Therefore, find out the laws in your state before purchasing a lift kit.
