A Review of the Dinosaur Book Mini Dinosaurs Stegosaurus

It is often a big task to find a suitable dinosaur book for children, when they are looking for something to help them with their reading. Many parents try to encourage young children to develop a love for books by encouraging them to read books on subjects for which they have a natural affinity. Many children under the age of three develop an interest and a fascination for dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals, so finding a book about dinosaurs specifically geared toward their age group can be a real blessing for parents. The Mini Dinosaurs Stegosaurus Book is a lovely little hardcover book that ticks all the boxes when it comes to parents and very young dinosaur fans. After all, a book featuring a purple Stegosaurus is sure to be well received by very young paleontologists.

Part of a set of dinosaur reading books intended for very young children

This book is part of a set of dinosaur-inspired books, all aimed at children approximately three years of age and up. As the pages are turned, a question about the Stegosaurus dinosaur is presented. The text is printed in a large, black, very clear font so that very young children can easily distinguish the words and figure out what the sentence is. Parents and grandparents can read the book with their young caregivers, turning the pages to discover what questions are being raised about this particular armored dinosaur from the late Jurassic. The answers can be found by lifting a flap, part of the animal’s body such as the plate covered in the back, the legs or the famous tail with its set of spikes at its end. The adult can read the book with the child, lifting the flap to reveal the answer to the question posed on that page about Stegosaurus. For example, one of the questions that arises is why did the Stegosaurus have large feet? By lifting the front leg of the Stegosaurus image on that page, the answer is revealed. Even a little more information can be found on the inside of each response flap, this helps the adult explain the answer to the child and provides some facts about Stegosaurus to support the information provided.

A purple stegosaurus

The friendly bright purple Stegosaurus certainly appeals to very young children, and the hard hard cover means the book can be cleaned in case a sticky hand touches it. The spine of the book is quite thick and this makes it easy to grip, which is especially helpful when young children are trying to use the book on their own. Best of all, in the final section of this book there is a large purple Stegosaurus cutout for the kids to display. By pulling the central part of the Stegosaurus drawing towards them and unfolding the tail, a large drawing of a Stegosaurus is revealed.

A well-designed dinosaur book for young readers

The book has been carefully thought out by the design team and editors and is an ideal “my first dinosaur book” for a budding dinosaur enthusiast. The simple design and easy-to-read text will encourage kids with their reading and word recognition, and the fun questions and answers are based on what scientists think they know about this extinct member of the Dinosaurs. Recommended for children from three years old, a very suitable dinosaur book for children.
