Perhaps one of America’s most famous ‘summer’ destinations, Martha’s Vineyard has it all; glorious beaches, spectacular accommodations, plenty to see and do and a laid-back, laid-back attitude that complements scarce vacation time beautifully.

Martha’s Vineyard is an island, one of the largest on the east coast that does not have a tunnel or bridge connecting it to the mainland. It sits south of Cape Cod, off the coast of lovely Massachusetts, and it packs a lot into its 100 square miles.

Many people get to Martha’s Vineyard via one of the many ferries that run day after day in the summer months, but why bother with the ferry when you can get to the island in style on your chartered plane? While the airport has commercial flight connections to many of the country’s major cities, renting allows you to enjoy all the conveniences without all the hassles. Because many people prefer to leave their car at home, the island is teeming with tourists and locals alike who have gotten off the beaten track, so to speak, and use bicycles and mopeds to get around. Enjoy the fresh air and scents of the ocean as you pedal to the pristine beaches or go and tour one of the many lighthouses and you won’t even miss your car or the ferry you might have come on.

Martha’s Vineyard isn’t one of those vacation spots where the party is constantly on the streets; instead, most social events take place within the privacy of the residences, leaving the small towns to come alive through their shops and boutiques, museums and attractions. Quaint towns and villages, stately homes and estates, and of course the pristine beaches, make Martha’s Vineyard the place to be in the summer, to be seen and see all the beauty it holds; it’s no wonder so many celebrities choose it year after year for their quiet, reflective getaways.

Once you’ve chartered to the island, sit back and relax or head out onto the winding streets and explore the ancient whaling heritage, visit the town of Oak Bluff which boasts the world’s oldest carousel, or head to the cliffs for breathtaking ocean views. The beautiful harbor comes alive with colorful boats and yachts, beckoning you on a sea adventure, or explore Gay Head Lighthouse, a real working structure giving you unsurpassed views for miles. Whatever adventure awaits you on Martha’s Vineyard, knowing you’re fully on your schedule will make you feel like you have all the time in the world.
